Years 8 and 9 Boys Cricket
On Friday 12 March Tintern Grammar travelled to Mt Scopus to play a friendly cricket match for the Years 8 and 9 boys. The Tintern Grammar team had been training since the beginning of Term 4 of last year in preparation for the match. The selected team for Tintern Grammar was: Will Kenny, Callum Power, Luke Fryer, Barathan Mahadeva, Aidan Hookey, Trent Chisholm, Raph Lever, Heath Fox, Daniel Elias, Connor Bastin, Haochen Zhang, Jack Pringle, Will Coward and David Derham. Will Kenny was appointed captain and the vice captains were Callum Power and Luke Fryer. On a fantastic day for cricket Tintern won the toss and decided to bat. We got off to a fantastic start with openers Will Kenny and Callum Power both retiring after reaching 35 not out and they were well supported by Luke Fryer (19) and some excellent team batting when looking for quick runs towards the end of the innings. Tintern Grammar posted a total of 3/130 at the end of the twenty overs.
Tintern Grammar bowled and fielded very well to restrict Mt Scopus to 8/94 off their twenty overs. Wickets were shared amongst Heath Fox (3), Aidan Hookey (2), Connor Bastin (1), Will Coward (1) and a run out. Thank you to Mr Trollope and Mr Scholz (Mt Scopus Head of Sport) for organising the match. The game was played in excellent spirit and hopefully it can become an annual tradition between the two schools. Congratulations to our boys for their excellent performance and winning the match.
