On Wednesday 31 August Tintern Grammar competed at the EISM Cross Country Carnival at Ruffey Lake Park, Doncaster. Snowsports Championships
Recently seven of our students competed in the Victorian Interschool Snowsports Championships. We also had three new students involved for the first time this year: Naomi Fan, Evelyn Jiang and Lucas Luo. These students, the youngest in our team, competed in really challenging conditions; wind, fog and snow but represented Tintern admirably.
XC Classic – Matthew Wilby

Alpine – Lily Wilby – Ski Cross – Lily Wilby
Ski Cross – Lily Wilby
Snowboard GS – Lucia Cockerell – Matthew Wilby – Lily Wilby – Donovan Cockerell
Snowboard Cross – Lucia Cockerell – Lily Wilby – Donavan Cockerell
From this event four students qualified to progress to the Australian National Championships held at Perisher, NSW . Representing Tintern Grammar was:
Lily Wilby – Alpine Grand Slalom and Snowboard Grand Slalom
Matthew Wilby Cross Country Classic
Donovan Cockerell – Snowboard Cross and Snowboard Grand Slalom
Lucia Cockerell – Snowboard Cross and Snowboard Grand Slalom
We were very excited to see our students competing against the best at this top level competition where all of our students were very competitive. However, as we only fielded one student in each event, rather than a team of three, therefore unfortunately we could not receive a place.
We want to field a bigger team next year and would love to hear from you to take part.
Please contact Ms Kathryn Brentwood if you would like to join the Interschool Snowsports Championships in 2023.

Senior Girls Touch Rugby
Congratulations to our Senior Girls Touch Rugby team, Grand Final runners up. In extremely wet conditions and no interchange bench, the girls ran hard all game and led at halftime 2-1. Against strong competitors, we finished runners up to Luther 4-3. The Tintern Grammar Girls Touch Rugby team has had a fantastic season – well done girls!
Senior Girls Volleyball A & B
The Senior Girls’ Volleyball A and B teams won their premiership against Donvale and Emmaus, respectively. The games were close, with the A’s winning in 4 sets and the Bs going to 5 sets. The girls played very well throughout the season and deserved to win the premiership. Congratulations to the A and B team.
Table Tennis
We congratulate Yi-Jen for her continued success in Table Tennis. Last week at the ITTF-Oceania Championships, Yi-Jen was outstanding, achieving a result of 5 times medalist: 3 gold (U15 Girls Team, U21 Girls Team, U15 Girls Double), 1 silver (U15 Mix Double) and 1 bronze medal (U15 Girl Single). Best of luck at the WTT Youth Contender in Darwin held over the school holidays.
