Crazy Hair Day

Today we supported the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave with a Crazy Hair Day fundraiser. As you can see below we had lots of very fun and creative hairstyles in the Girls’ Junior School.

My Place in Space

What a wonderful start to the year we have had in Year 2. The girls have settled well and have taken beautifully to their responsibilities as the leaders of our Prep to 2 area; kindly supporting our newest friends in the Prep Classroom. What wonderful role models they have become.

As a class we have delved deeply into our learning and while studying the topic “My Place in Space”, have discovered much about the areas in which we live, our indigenous culture and history, the states and territories of Australia, the continents and oceans of the World, and the planets of our solar system. We have looked at maps and learned to use an atlas. We launched into Google Earth and found our school, the City of Melbourne and Uluru!

We even explored the Great Barrier Reef, considered one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the world, all from the comfort of our own classroom. The girls wondered at the magnificence of the reef and were amazed to realise that coral are actually animals.

In between this we have been reading, writing, spelling, becoming marvellous mathematicians, and we even cheered on Scotty James during the Olympic Games.

So much learning already and we are only half way through Term 1!
