From the Principal

Important Board news and end of year best wishes

As we approach the end of the school and calendar year, I wish you all a wonderful festive season and a relaxing and enjoyable summer break.

I write to you to report the resignation of Mr Greg Hoxley, Chair of the Tintern Grammar Board, effective end of 2019. Greg has resigned from both his role as Board Chair, and as a Board Director. Greg has been Chair of the Board since 2014, and a Director on the School Board from early 2013 and we will greatly miss Greg’s expert leadership.

A father of three Southwood, and later Tintern boys, Greg has shown enormous commitment to the School as a Board member, and over the last 5 years as Board Chair. He has provided very significant leadership in bringing together the previous two communities of Tintern Schools into a single united family.

Greg has also brought his over twenty-five years of project management and assessment experience to the Board, and his skills have been invaluable in the planning and execution of our last 5 years of building works. He also led the Board with an effective combination of strength and nuance, utilising his extensive experience in organisational leadership and governance. Under Greg’s leadership the school has achieved impressive community engagement and unity, new levels of academic excellence for its students and has built and renewed many important facilities to enhance all students’ experiences at Tintern.

We offer best wishes to Greg as he will take up the opportunities to re-focus his business interests with greater energy and additional time and offer our gratitude for his impressive leadership and commitment to our fine school.

Deputy Chair, Dr Jessica Davies will take up the role of Acting Chair until the appointment of the new permanent Chair early in 2020.
