Junior National Indoor Netball Championships
During the week of 27th November to the 3rd December, Ashlea and Olivia Cross have been competing in the Junior National Indoor Netball Championships. They were selected to be members of the Under 15 Victorian Panthers team who have played matches against teams from Qld, NSW, SA and WA. Although not always successful in winning games against extremely tough competition, the girls have had a wonderful experience playing netball at a very high level, being part of a representative State team and relishing the atmosphere of game days. They should be congratulated on their wonderful efforts in netball this year.
After the tournament ended on Saturday 3rd, a presentation night was held, at which an Australian 15yrs and under Indoor Netball team was announced. This team will travel to South Africa next year to play in an International tournament and Olivia Cross was chosen as a member of the squad for this event. A wonderful conclusion to a great week of netball!
National All Schools Athletic Championships – Canberra
Congratulations to Corey Dickson (Y8) who competed as a member of the Victorian All Schools team in Canberra last weekend. Corey finished 4th in the U/16 3000m Walk, (2nd in his age group), at the championships, which was a fantastic result. Corey will compete at the National Junior Championships along with a number of other Tintern athletes in Sydney next April. We wish Corey and the others all the best this season.
Tintern EISM Weekly Sport Awards
At assemblies over the past few weeks, the Sports Department has presented Best and Fairest, Runners-up and Coaches awards to students who competed in weekly team sports at EISM level. These awards were determined by coaches who voted on a 3-2-1 basis each week. Votes were tallied at the end of the season and award winners received medallions. A full list of those who received awards is posted on the sport pages of the Portal. Congratulations to all students who competed in Tintern EISM teams throughout the season and thank you for your support of the sports program.
