House Cross Country
On Friday 15th July, Tintern Grammar held the annual House Cross Country Carnival. It was fantastic to have all years 7-12 students being able to cheer on their fellow students during the carnival, after the last couple of years. The students ran very well in wet conditions under foot around the 2.6km course inside the grounds of the school and competed enthusiastically to earn points for their house. Congratulations to the top three students from each race who received a medal and to the top ten place getters who qualified for the EISM Cross Country Carnival. The overall house results were:
1st Butterss/Cross 366 Points
2nd Mansfield/McKie 350 Points
3rd Gordon/Grant 324 Points
4th Somner/Stewart 288 Points
5th Dann/Watt 270 Points

Junior School Physical Education
This term in Physical Education our focus will be on developing our skills in Athletics. This will help us to prepare for the upcoming District Athletics Carnival on 29 August, and our House Athletics Carnival which will be held in Term 4. During this time students will explore a range of running, jumping and throwing events which include running from 100m-1500m, long and triple jump techniques and shot put and discus throwing rotations. We will also look at our shuttle and circular relays, particularly our baton holding and changeovers.
This term has also seen some Junior School students involved in the Interschool sport playoff finals for Hotshots and mixed Softball. With a very close finish, unfortunately the Hotshots team just missed out on moving onto the Division finals. The mixed softball team finished their playoff with a win of 21-13, therefore progressing to the Division level finals.
A big thank you to Sandy and Jenny who coached these teams with great success throughout Term 2, and congratulations to all students who were involved!
