We know that music helps us to break down the barriers…here is an example of two special friends about 80 years apart enjoying time together. Charlotte in Year 1 has a very special family friend who takes her for a singing session after school. Her mentor is well into her 80s.. Mrs Ruth Hawkins who has had a connection with Tintern many years ago. How special to see Charlotte and Ruth share music together even though they are generations apart.
More recently Mrs Ruth Hawkins of Ringwood received the Medal in the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to the community of Maroondah, which recognises her long association with the organisation of the annual Ringwood Eisteddfod and her life’s work as a musician and citizen of working for charity. Her life has been all about music and giving opportunities to others.
