On February 27 February the Year 5 boys travelled to Scienceworks to visit the Planetarium, The Lightning Show and the class session: Earth, Moon and the Sun.
The boys enjoyed learning about lightning, electricity and safety in the Lightning Room. In the Planetarium, we learnt about the earth’s tilt and then viewed the Melbourne night sky and some of the constellations and planets we can see in our night sky.
We then had a play at the exhibitions, including the simulation of a space shuttle and gravity on different plants.
Finally, we completed a class session of the size of the planets and how we get day and night and the seasons of the year.
It was a fabulous day and reinforced many of the concepts about Space we have learned this term.
