The Year 10s have settled in well to the Senior College and we have been busy preparing for our City Experience camp next week from Monday 20 to Wednesday 22 February. The camp booklets will be given out on Thursday to the students and provide comprehensive information about the program. I do encourage families to discuss arrangements and I will be meeting students at Ringwood East Railway Station at 7.30am to ensure that all travel groups leave safely. The remainder of the staff will greet the students in the city opposite CYC City in Collins Street. It is important that the school receives the reply form which is due back to Reception in the Senior College on Wednesday 15 February. The Senior College celebrated Valentine’s Day and it was good to observe how the Year 10s mixed with the older students during the serenades.
City Experience is a wonderful opportunity for the staff to interact informally with the students and already it is evident that they have busy lives that complement their studies at school. Jack Martin who is new to Tintern has been competing in the Australian Kart Championships in Newcastle recently and I acknowledge his determined efforts to compete in 50 degree heat at such a high level of competition. Jasmin Liew has been accepted into a three week Summer Intensive Program run by the Bolshoi Ballet in New York City at the end of June after a successful video audition. She will join three students from the En Pointe School of Ballet to work with this internationally renowned and prestigious Russian ballet company. Jack and Jasmin are both congratulated on their outstanding achievements.
