All Year 10 and 11 students are encouraged to attend at least one of the University or TAFE Open Days that generally occur during August. It is hoped that Year 12 students are finalising their choices as VTAC (Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre) applications opened at 9.00am on Monday 6 August. It is important that those students wishing to apply through VTAC begin the registration process and note all of the key dates published in terms of timely closing dates, SEAS (Special Entry Access Scheme) and scholarships. Post-Secondary Information Night for Year 12 Parents/Guardians
Date: Thursday 9 August
Time: 7.30 – 8.45pm
Location: Tintern Theatre
Please note this is an evening for parents or guardians. Students are not required to attend as they have received the information at a year level assembly. The format for the evening includes an overview of the VTAC application process with reference to interstate and overseas applications, the Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) and a presentation from the Deakin University Admissions team to provide insights into the transition process from school to tertiary study including advice for families.
Year 12 Student Reminder
The ASPIRE conditional early entry program offered by La Trobe University closes on Friday 31 August 2018. ASPIRE recognises service to the community in a range of contexts. Applications are made online at: https://www.latrobe.edu.au/study/aspire
Year 11 Careers Assembly
Last week a presentation was given to the Year 11 students that outlined the importance of researching future career options, the role of community service in gaining conditional early entry offers with a reduced ATAR, exploring scholarship opportunities and preparing for VTAC requirements such as personal statements. The Year 11 students had a follow up pastoral session using the newly formatted Course Search tool on the VTAC website found at: http://delta.vtac.edu.au/CourseSearch/searchguide.htm
