While it may have become somewhat cliché to say that a year has passed in the ‘blink of an eye’, I’m sure many of you feel this sentiment too. It has been a fantastic year in the Girls’ Middle School and I personally have enjoyed watching each of the students grow into increasingly strong, independent young women.
Last night I had the privilege of attending the Year 8 Performing Arts Evening. It was 8A’s time to shine and shine they did. With a variety of small ensemble and solo performances, it was abundantly clear that each and every student had put an enormous amount of time and effort to ensure the evening was a great success.
Today, we see some of our Year 9 girls competing in the EISM Ultimate Frisbee Grand Final. I know that the girls have come together throughout the Term to form a cohesive team and I wish them and their coach, Mr Klan, the best of luck for the big game.
Our Year 7 students are close to completing their first year as part of the Tintern Middle School. While the beginning of Year 7 can be quite a daunting task, it is fantastic to see the girls now moving around the Middle School buildings with such confidence. Currently, they are busy preparing to make their ‘Christmas Hampers’ for local families who would not otherwise have the means of such a luxury. This is sure to be an engaging and rewarding task.
As this newsletter reaches you, I will be at Melbourne Airport with an exceptionally excited group of Senior School students that are travelling to India as part of the World Challenge Program. Just as I am prepared for this adventure, I know the Year 9’s are well and truly prepared for their upcoming Summer Expeditions! They have participated in many ‘training’ workshops to develop their knowledge of the equipment required and appropriate meal plans. I’m sure they will have an amazing time, whether they are rock climbing in Tasmania, sea kayaking on the Gippsland Lakes or braving the white water rapids of the Mitchell River.
Thank you for all the time and energy you have put into making 2016 a success.
I wish you all the best over the summer holidays and look forward to another exciting year in the Girls’ Middle School in 2017.
