Music of Japan – World Music Incursion

On Friday the 28th of April, all of the Year 7 and 8 students went to the CM Wood Performance Centre to watch a Japanese taiko drumming performance. We also learned about some other instruments like the Japanese flute and some small handheld cymbals. It was a very interactive show, and lots of people got to go up on stage and try out the drums. Everyone else who weren’t lucky enough to be chosen clapped along to the rhythm.

My favourite part was when they pretended the cymbals were tennis racquets and had an invisible rally across the stage. It was a great performance and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.
