Music Camp 2018

Music students from Years 7-12 did the unthinkable and came to school on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 July for the whole weekend to attend our annual Music Camp. This event allows us to rehearse for Tintern’s Annual Concert and learn the medley for the massed final item. On Friday after school, the students participated in rehearsals for their choirs and other ensembles. They also enjoyed a pizza dinner while watching Sister Act 2, to get into ‘the zone’ for the medley this year.

Saturday morning saw some dedicated students at School at 8.45am for more ensemble rehearsals, before we began learning the medley, which is sure to be a memorable ending to our concert for everyone. After the infamous burger lunch, the Music Captains ran a game ‘Substitute’ based on the Spicks & Specks favourite, in which groups of students had to sing songs while using lyrics from unrelated books.

On Sunday, students returned to School for the last day of camp to either finish learning the vocal parts, or the band parts, for our Annual Concert medley. The Music Captains organised a trivia Kahoot for the students, including questions testing their South Pacific and House Music knowledge. Music Camp was a rewarding and fun experience for students of all ages to come together and make music. We look forward to sharing all of our musical efforts with you at the Annual Music Concert at 7.30pm on the 10th August in the CM Wood Centre.
