Letterland Talk to ELC-Year 2 Parents

We had a lovely turnout of enthusiastic parents at our Letterland Talk this week.  Helen Kirkland explained in greater detail how the  Letterland programs supports literacy development and taught us more about phonological awareness and its importance in building firm foundations for further literacy development. Research indicates that strong phonological awareness is a strong predictor in gauging future reading success.  Phonological awareness is the ability to manipulate sounds in words through use of syllables, rhyme, alliteration and deleting a single sound in a word.

We had time for several questions and as always we are appreciative of the wonderful support from our families for information sessions such as these. We are always very grateful to Helen Kirkland for sharing her extensive expertise in this area which supports the school and the students so well.
