On Saturday 15 February, Year 11 & 12 International Baccalaureate Visual Art students were fortunate to attend a seminar at Glen Eira Gallery in Caulfield , discussing the application of techniques and skills, criterion and tips on creating a successful folio. Past students, who received top marks for their folios, also spoke with students about their artistic journey. It was a delight to have Nicoani Susanto( alumni 2019) as a guest speaker, sharing her Process Porfolio, Comparative study and Extended Essay components of the course, as well as show her work in the associated exhibition. A highlight of the seminar were the presentations by Archibald Winning artist Yvette Coppersmith, who detailed her journey from student to practicing artist, and Pamela Irving, who explored inspiration and studio practice. Students had the opportunity to seek clairifcation, ask questions and ‘unpack’ the 2 year course. Students were left with many areas of inspiration and clarification of the course, as well as meeting students from other IB schools in Victoria and Tasmania, who are completing the IB Visual Art component of their studies.
