News From the Head of Senior College

There has been plenty happening in the Senior College as students have returned refreshed following the three week break. Students have begun new units and subjects and are further involving themselves in the co-curricular and sport programs. In two short weeks we have already seen our Young Farmers successfully compete at the Bendigo Show, our ‘Big Brother, Big Sister’ continues and Year 11 and 12s enjoyed their respective Formals held last Friday. The venue’s management praised the respectfulness and excellent behaviour of our students at both of these events. Students looked amazing, were so inclusive of everyone, and demonstrated once again they are fantastic role models for younger year levels.

In the coming weeks we have quite a few opportunities to come together as a community to support student initiatives with the aim of raising awareness and funds for people in need. The Social Justice Group is running a ‘Comedy for a Cause’ Night on Friday 3 August, with proceeds to go to Indigenous young Australians via the Anglicare Mission. And students in the Big Hug Social Justice Group are also being asked to donate new “Socks, Jocks and Pyjamas” throughout the coming weeks which will support children and families in need this winter. I hope these initiatives are a great success and thank students and families for their support!

Subject Selections for 2019

Year 10 and Year 11 students are currently making decisions about what subjects they will be studying next year and on Thursday 26 July we welcome students and parents to our ‘Subject Showcase Evening’ to further assist this decision making process. All students have received training and advice on making their online selections which closes on Sunday 5 August so that our School timetabler can commence the intricate process of developing the 2019 secondary timetable.

School Uniform

A reminder to students and parents/guardians that students are required to wear full school Winter uniform at this time of the year. With the only exception being EISM Sports Fixture days when complete correct sports uniform can be worn by those students who are participating in team events/practices or are officially involved in Senior College Recreation activities. The School blazer must be worn to and from school with full school Winter uniform. Full Winter uniform is required to be worn until September 1 when either full Summer uniform OR full Winter uniform can be worn – but not a mixture of the two. From the commencement of Term 4, full Summer uniform must be worn with the exception of Celebration Evening, a formal event to which students are required to wear full Winter uniform.
