Tintern Grammar Community Groups

Our Community Groups are an incredible and invaluable part of Tintern Grammar. They enrich us through fundraising, events and activities that bring together our community; past and present, in celebration and fun. They are also a great way to meet other parents and become involved with the school community!

Everyone is welcome to attend Community Group Meetings. Whether you are curious about joining, wish to meet other parents or just want to lend a hand with a specific event please look out for the dates and times which are advertised in Community Matters each fortnight.

Each group has a different focus, and you can read about them on the portal by selecting here:

The Election meetings provide the committees with office bearers and a direction for the year. They are a wonderful opportunity for visitors to get a broad understanding of the wonderful contribution these groups make to our School.

The events and activities run by the various community groups represent a vital contribution to the enhancement of the school experience for our students and in fostering a community atmosphere across the school in support of parents.

For more information on how to be involved please contact Di Lacey or Tegan Martin in the Community Relations Office on 9845 7877 or communityrelations@tintern.vic.edu.au.

We hope to see you there!

Friends of Equestrian (FOE) – Clinics over the holidays

On the 29 of January the Tintern Equestrian team had a wonderful day riding at Wyronga Park with the incredible Glenda Hinchliffe. This clinic provided an excellent opportunity to learn, improve and refine our dressage skills, especially in preparation for our upcoming Tintern Horse Trials which will be held on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 April. Dressage is an integral phase of the horse trials and it determines the leader board before the two jumping phases. The skills that are learnt whilst doing dressage can also strengthen other areas of riding as they provide necessary basics like straightness, suppleness and can help to strengthen a bond between rider and horse. On behalf of the team, Jess and I would like to thank the Friends of Equestrian Committee for organising a wonderful clinic with Glenda! It is always so special learning from someone with such a high calibre, especially when you get to share the lesson with a team member and friend!

Tintern Grammar Alumni (TGA) Expressions of Interest Evening

A great group of young alumni joined us at our Stand Up and Lend Your Voices event last Friday evening. These past students along with their TOGA and SOBA counterparts will head up our new Tintern Grammar Alumni group.

If you haven’t yet registered but would like to be a part of the new group, please register your interest here https://www.trybooking.com/BAOCQ and we will be in touch.

Foundation Service

Each year our Foundation Service is a wonderful occasion for current and past students, staff and parents to come together to celebrate our school. At Friday morning’s Foundation Service we welcomed back Thomas “TJ” Lacey (YG 2011) and Karen Gately (YG 1988). During the Service TJ and Karen spoke to Mr Fry about their professional achievements and time at Tintern.

What a wonderful opportunity for the School community to be inspired by these accomplished alumnae.

The Foundation Service was followed by morning tea and a sneak peek at the new Speagle Science Centre, with the official opening scheduled for Thursday 30 May 2019.

Upcoming Reunions:

  • YG 2009 10 Year Reunion for Saturday 2 March at Tintern Grammar 3.30 to 6.00pm. Bookings are now open and can be made by selecting here: www.trybooking.com/ZZJF.

Thank you to the wonderful volunteers who have already signed on as Stall Coordinators for 2019.

Are you Spring Cleaning?

For the 2019 School Fair our parents and students will be running ‘recycling/reusing/upcycling’ stalls featuring second-hand clothing, books and toys. Please consider donating any suitable items to the school and spreading the word amongst neighbours and friends. In the past they have been fabulous fundraisers, and an opportunity to find some rare and wonderful bargains.

We ask that all donations are in a good clean condition ready for sale. All items can be boxed or bagged up and dropped off as follows:

  • Second hand books are to be dropped to the corridor running between learning enhancement and Kennedy Cottage
  • Second hand clothing and toys will need to be dropped outside the old boarding house under the cover and Tintern staff will move inside.
  • New items should be dropped in the hallway in Kennedy Cottage.

Thank you for all of your donations!

Fair Sponsorship Opportunities

In 2017, our FAIR raised in excess of $50,000 towards a solar project for our redeveloped 21st Century Science wing. Work on this project is nearing completion. This year, with your help, we hope to continue our sustainable focus redirecting our 2019 FAIR fundraising dollars to wind power and more solar options.

The Fair is held every two years, and previous Fairs held at Tintern have attracted more than 5,000 people.  In the evening, we have an impressive fireworks display that attracts additional guests.  Many families and business owners attend the fair and come from the local and surrounding community.  This creates a unique opportunity to showcase your goods and services or your business.

If you would like to donate goods or services to be included in the silent auction, or for further information on sponsorship please read the flyer below, or contact the Community Relations on 03 9845 7877 or communityrelations@tintern.vic.edu.au
