Annual Grand Prix and Leukaemia Foundation Fundraiser
Last Friday was a most energetic and special day for us all in the Boys’ Junior School as we supported The Leukaemia Foundation through our Crazy Hair Day and Grand Prix.
We commenced with the 20th running of our annual Grand Prix with a special demonstration of precision driving from Year 12 student Jack Oberstar, who competed in every Grand Prix when he was in the Junior School. Jack is ranked third in Victoria for Remote Controlled Car racing and heads to the Victorian Championships at Easter. Our Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 boys enjoyed a crazy drive around before we had our Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 Grand Prix finals. Congratulations to all boys who competed, and especially to Jay Jensen who won our overall Championship.
With all boys wearing their hair in a very crazy manner, and many enjoying a sausage sizzle lunch, we were able to support the Secondary School’s fundraising and be a part of a grand total of more than $5,000 being donated to the Leukaemia Foundation.
This is Me Assembly
On Monday our This Is Me Assembly guest was our Principal, Mr Brad Fry.
Brad was able to answer our ‘7 short questions’ in 25 seconds (revealing his favourite chip flavour, his lack of interest in Maccas and KFC, that he DOES like Vegemite and that Andy Garcia would play him in the ‘Brad Fry Movie’!) before moving onto the more meaningful questions about his life, resilience, memories and advice to others.
Our boys thoroughly enjoyed hearing from Mr Fry and were again fortunate to be able to share in someone’s personal journey, while taking away another perspective of how we are all unique and special.
Next Monday’s This Is Me Assembly guest will be AFL footballer Sam Weideman.
