SHINE
This year, our theme in the Boys’ Junior School is SHINE.
In classes, Assemblies and every day Boys’ Junior School life, we will be discussing how we all have the ability to SHINE and that we can help others SHINE when they are feeling ‘dark’.
On their first day, each boy took home a candle, attached with the label below. The boys also have their own candle at school, with the following label on it.

We have used our latest GROICK book SHINE, and our early Assemblies, to talk about candles being both a metaphor for SHINE and how they are a wonderful tool for wellbeing. The aroma and the visual calmness can be incredibly soothing, and we all know that lighting a candle can be a symbolic act of celebration and/or remembrance. The second quote is an especially important one in further reinforcing the need to respect others. I would hope that our community, especially our boys, know and feel that our Junior School is a sanctuary where they can shine, or where their candle can be lit
Scotty James
We are very much looking forward to watching Scotty James perform in the Snowboarding Halfpipe runs this week at the Winter Olympics in Beijing.
Our Girls and Boys have sent letters and pictures of support and well wishes.
