Boys’ Junior School News

Junior School Assemblies

Our Assemblies this week provided us with the opportunity to talk about Curtis McGrath, who won two Gold Medals at the Paralympics, and more importantly, his story of GRIT and Courage. While serving in Afghanistan, an explosion led to the amputation of both of his legs, yet as he was carried to hospital on a stretcher, he declared to his mates, “I’m going to represent Australia at the Paralympics.”

We also spoke about the All Blacks, considered one of the greatest teams in History (settle down Melbourne supporters) and their mantra of “Sweep The Sheds” and “Keep a Blue Head”; show responsibility for little things like cleaning up after yourself, and when times are challenging, keep calm and control emotions.

We also had a special Prep to Years 6 RUOK? gathering on Thursday morning and I know that many of our boys reached out to friends, family and staff, on this day to check in with them.
