The beginning of the school year can be a nerve racking time, particularly when you are 3 or 4 years old and the height of most people’s knees! This time can be filled with both excitement and apprehension. The first day is often great, the second good and by the third day the children are beginning to question, “Is this it now? Are you going to leave me here again today?!”
Fortunately, our children love coming to the ELC! A big part of this is the relationships they build with staff. Helping the children feel happy and secure is our most important role. Staff spend their time engaging with children 1:1 and in small groups to get to know their thoughts, ideas and interests, and this forms the basis for our teaching and learning program through the year.
