It is with great pleasure we welcome Mrs Naomi Greco to the Junior School as our new Art Teacher. The girls are doing some wonderful pieces of work and enjoying the vast experience and knowledge of Mrs Greco. Mrs Greco has taught at primary level for many years but is also an extremely experienced teacher at secondary level (at Tintern) having marked and written VCE Visual Arts examination papers in past years. Both her daughters also attended Tintern, so she is certainly no stranger to our special community. She is thoroughly enjoying being part of our team again.
What’s happening in the Art Room?
All girls have now completed their annual self-portrait. This is an exercise that Tintern girls have continued to do over the years. The drawings are kept by the school and given back to them at the completion of Year 6. It shows visually a progression of their drawing skills.
Year 6 Self Portraits
Year 3s are exploring a Marine theme, making and painting an enlarged tropical fish. Continuing the theme of “Me too” the Year 4 girls are designing and making a mask that helps represent their inner selves. Years 5 and 6 are exploring new drawing and painting materials and techniques. Year 5 is using soft pastel to draw an enlarged animal eye and Year6 are painting a ballerina using gouache and coloured pencil.
Year 1 class with their Mother’s Day portrait – Junior School girls have just completed their Mother’s Day gift and portrait. They were certainly made and painted with love.
The Dream Car Contest was a rewarding lunchtime activity for a number of the girls. They worked hard to design and draw their ideal car that would help mankind.
