Over a 3 week period in May, approximately 5600 Year 7 and Year 8 mathematically-talented students throughout Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore submitted answers in the Mathematics Challenge for Young Australians Program conducted by the University of Canberra. The program consisted of six problem-solving tasks; four of which were done individually and two could be attempted with a partner if desired. Selected students from both Southwood and Tintern Middle Schools participated in this program.
Congratulations to all participants, but in particular, congratulations to Ashleigh Dowling (Year 8) for achieving a High Distinction award, as well as Joshua Choong, Oscar De Jong, Amelia Kenny, Oliver Huang and Jake Stubbs (Year 7) for achieving Distinction awards!
