Friends of Equestrian
Over the past few months our equestrian team has been out and about competing with their horses at numerous events across Victoria. One of our younger members, Millie Harvey (Year 7), has been competing on her pony Holly at a games event where she finished 2nd! She also competed at Seville Horse Trials along with Bridie Wescombe (Year 9) who finished 6th in the Grade 3.
Tonimbuk Horse Trials showed two Tintern riders Bridie Wescombe and Lilly Trevorrow competing in the EvA 95 and they both did very well in the challenging weather conditions. Keely Thomas took her pony to Horse of the Year which qualified for nationals. She also took her young horse out and finished in the top 10! Last but not least, Alice Callaghan competed on her horse at
Cockatoo Jump Trials after her horse had sustained an injury last year, however they finished 2nd in the Grade 3.
At the start of February, Olivia Park, Lilly Trevorrow and Ella Trevorrow all represented Tintern at the Interschool Show Jumping Summer Show at Boneo Park. Ella produced 4 clear rounds thought the day in the progressive class. One of our standouts however was Olivia on her pony Pegasus who won one of her classes and finished 3rd overall in the encourage class!
Some members are also very excited to be starting off the new years with some new editions to their family. Olivia Park, Saskia Jackson-Smith, Lilly Trevorrow and Bridie Wescombe all got new horses this year and we wish them all the best for their journeys with them.

EISM Swimming Carnival
On Tuesday 3 March Tintern Grammar competed in the annual EISM Division one Swimming Carnival at Melbourne Sport and Aquatic Centre. On a cool night the Tintern Grammar students swam exceptionally well considering how many students we had that pulled out of the carnival against strong opposition. There were a number of excellent individual performances and team performances.
Congratulations to the following students and teams:
- Kaidin Dalzotto
- Georgia Hargreaves
- Jade Hutchinson
- Sienna Dass
U/13 Boys Relay – medley and freestyle
U/15 Boys Relay – medley and freestyle
Senior Girls Relay – medley and freestyle
The final results were:
1st Huntingtower 2030 points
2nd Luther 1952 points
3rd Aquinas 1759 points
4th Kilvington 1746 points
5th Eltham 1693 points
6th Emmaus 1684 points
7th Knox 1681 points
8th Bialik 1507 points
9th Tintern 1458 points
It was extremely disappointing that one quarter of the students selected in the team didn’t attend the carnival and therefore we couldn’t fill all of our events on the program. This resulted in Tintern Grammar being relegated to the Division two carnival in 2021 by a total of 49 points. This equates to last place in two relay races and one individual race.
Australian National Pentathlon Championships

Ella achieved a personal best in her combined event and had a very successful ride. Overall Ella won her category in the Under 19 Australian championship.
